A lot happens within a short amount of time during Holy Week. From the crowds cheering as Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey to the crowds jeering at Jesus’ trial and crucifixion, Holy Week is a case study in how quickly public opinion can change and influence events.
Holy Week Ups and Downs Why are the three days leading up to Easter considered the most important in the Christian tradition? Learn about Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil. Feel free to break up this activity plan into more than one family gathering.
Holy Week As we near the end of Lent, this is a good time to talk about what we have found helpful and challenging in our Lenten promises. Spend time coloring as a family while also sharing about your recent struggles and triumphs.
Coloring Lent How do we experience the Paschal Mystery in our daily lives? Jesus' death and resurrection shows us that new life can come from our struggles. Learn more about the paschal mystery and how you can apply it to your life.
The Paschal Mystery Share the story of Jesus washing the disciples' feet on Holy Thursday, and relay this sign of love and humility to your family or friends by washing their feet and giving them a foot massage.
Holy Feet In John's Gospel we hear the story of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. Take time for your family to have a movie night that helps members reflect on what it means to "wash the feet" of one another.
Washing Feet Lent reminds us to share God’s love with all living creatures while they are alive on this earth. Listen to a story by a child named Chris, and then choose an activity to help you practice love during this season of Lent.
Learning to Love We all need a reminder each day of how much God loves us. During the season of Lent, we hear about Jesus sharing a tangible way to remember Him in the celebration of the Eucharist (Communion). This activity is a way to remember Jesus is with you wherever you go!
Remember Me Jump-start your family’s Lenten observance with a lesson in generosity (almsgiving). Pick any week or two during Lent and collect coins. Purchase a gas card with what you gather, and donate it to someone in need.
